Getting started: make your link in a minute

Create your DropAsecret link, choose what people can send you, and get the first messages in.

DropAsecret gives you a link of your own. Anyone who opens it can send you a message without telling you who they are, and you can reply, react and keep talking, still without knowing. Setting it up takes about a minute.

1. Create your link

Tap Create your link and sign in with your email address. Then pick two things:

  • A username. It becomes your address: dropasecret.com/yourname. Short and easy to type is best, because people will see it in your story and type it from memory.
  • A colour. Your page, your share cards and your inbox all take it on. You can change it later.

You can also add a profile photo and a display name. Both are optional, and both are public: anyone with your link sees them.

2. Choose what people can send

Your link opens on a prompt that tells visitors what kind of message you want. Each one is a mode, and you can switch on as many as you like in Settings, under Link:

  • Tell me anything
  • Confessions
  • Secret crush
  • Ask me anything
  • Honest opinion
  • Roast me
  • Advice box
  • Campus / class

Your link opens on the first mode you have on, and visitors can switch between the others. If you only want questions, leave just Ask me anything on. If you want chaos, turn them all on.

In the same place you can decide whether people may send you voice notes. With them off, people can only send you text.

3. Share it

Open the share sheet from your inbox and post your link wherever your people are: your Instagram story, your WhatsApp status, a group chat, your bio. The sheet has buttons for WhatsApp, Telegram, X, Facebook, Messages and email, plus a copy button for everywhere else. Our guide to where to share your link goes through each app.

Nobody needs an account to send you something. They open the link, write, and send.

4. Turn on notifications

Messages can arrive at any hour, usually right after you post your link. In Settings, under Notifications, you can have this device tell you when something comes in. A notification only ever says that a message arrived, never what it says, so nothing private shows on your lock screen.

On a phone you can also add DropAsecret to your home screen, so it opens like an app.

5. Read, reply, repeat

Everything people send lands in your inbox. Open a message to reply, react, or share it to your story as an image. The sender can come back to the same conversation and answer you, and it stays anonymous the whole way. How replies and conversations work explains the details.

A few tips for a good first day

  • Post your link when your friends are online, in the evening rather than first thing in the morning.
  • Tell people what you want. "Ask me anything about my trip" gets better messages than a bare link.
  • Answer a few messages publicly by sharing them to your story. It shows people you read them, and more follow.
  • Come back to it. A Drop, a time-limited question that takes over your link, is a good way to get a second wave. See Drops and polls.

DropAsecret is for people aged 18 and over.

Get your own anonymous link

Share it, get anonymous messages, reply without knowing who sent them, and reveal only when you both want to. It takes about a minute.
